  1. There are many hiding places on Baltinglass hill all of which were used in olden times. There are caves running from the old Monastery to the pinnacle on top of hill. This cave was used in the time of Cromwell who came to burn down the Monastery, the monks and nuns escaped through the cave. One nun from France who was staying in the Monastery for a while ran up the hill and got into a narrow cave on top of the hill where she is supposed to have died. Many attempts have been made to explore the cave but no one has ever succeeded in getting in. The most historical place of all is Michael Dwyers pinnacle in which many strange things have been found.
