  1. Care of our Farm Animals.
On the farm we have cattle, horses, pigs, donkeys and goats. Some people have sheep and lambs.
The fowl we have are hens, chickens, a cock, ducks, geese, turkeys and guinea fowl.
The cowhouse is made of cement and sand. It is roofed with sheet-iron and timber. The inner walls are white-washed. There are cement troughs for winter feeding. About 4' over the troughs there is a hay-rack. It holds the hay and the animals cannot scatter it.
The cows are "stalled" with a chain round the neck. The chain is fastened to a wooden stake fixed firmly in the ground. We have place for 12 cows in our byre.
We have a Sacred Heart badge and a bit of blessed palm hanging up there for luck.
When the cows "rogue" around we blindfold them with a piece of tin.
When driving cows we say "how-how" or "prug-prug".
When calling the horse we say "Peo-peo".
When calling the pigs we say "hurish".
When calling the goats we say "Jin-jin".
When calling the calves we say "suck-suck".
