- 151In "Penal Times" the priests used to say Mass in the mountains and in the lanes because the soldiers put them out of the Chapels and they would not let them say Mass. If they caught the Priests saying Mass they would put them to death. In olden times the people used to go to Mass by the shortest they could. "Mass Paths". There is one which is in the middle of Doyles field. It is called a "Mass Path." It is also one way the people used to go tpo Mass in olden times. Further down the fields there is a corner which the people call "The Mass Corner". A Priest said Mass there once.
