- 137In olden times it was the custom of the country that the brides mother should have a dance for the two that were getting married. The night of the dance a crowd of young fellows would dress up in black clothes and white cloths on their faces and go to the brides house. It was also a custom that the Bride and Bride-groom would meet at the Chapel on the morning of the marriage.
Then they would come to the bride's house and get their breakfast.
In the of May it was a custom that nobody would get married because the old people said it was unlucky and that it was unlucky to get married on a Monday or a Saturday.
