One Sunday in the month of July of that year her mother was at home from mass housekeeping and her next door neighbour's cows came running into the yard and into the byre from the Clags.
She went out to turn them out, but the thought struck her of what the priest told her. So all the vessel she had was a thimble and she strugged a few drops into it and went in and threw it into her own milk.
Monday morning they started to churn again but they were not long at it until big grains of butter came on the churn lid and they could scarcely pull up the dash. When the lid was taken of the churn, they found that there was far more butter on the milk than there should be. She went back to the priest again and told him and he told her not to worry she was only getting her own back.
They had an oversupply of butter on their milk for sometime afterwards and then it gradually came right.
