  1. Jack the Buck
    Long ago there was an old man named John Geoghegan, better known as 'Jack the Buck'. He was an unconquered duellist. He lived in Jamestown Court Castletown Geoghegan. His mother was named Biddie Brown - Brown of the Neal, a noted family from Galway. She often told him she would rather be gathering up his guts on a skib than see him posted a coward.
    At one time Jack was in a hotel in Dublin accompanied only by his servant. In another apartment there were a lot of Tories. The did not like Jack but still feared him. To make little of him, one of them took out his watch, and sent his servant out with it to see if he knew the time. Jack was very angry. He took out his
