    On Christmas Eve up to about fifty years ago all the old men used to come to the Chapel before midnight, and play and sing hymns, on tin whistles and fifes.
    People leave their doors open and lighted candles on windows all that night.

    Shrove not minded here for marriages. They make pan-cakes on Shrove Tuesday night.
    On Ash Wednesday morning ash-bags put on eligible bachelors and girls. Long ago they used to pin on their backs paper bags of ashes with
