Also there is a well in Killallon, it is a holy well, if you want to be cured of anything you must bring a piece of a rag or a bit of cloth and the thing is cured. In this locality a large red boil an any part of the body is called "the rose". The cure for this is Lough Ruad (Red Lake) in the district of Knocklough. Long ago a fight took place on the shore of this lake and its waters became red with blood. In order to make the cure effective, a person of the opposite sex to the patient takes a bottle full of water from the lough. A piece of moss or mud is also inserted into the neck of the bottle. The person is not to look back at the lake while bringing home the water. Afterwards the water is rubbed on the sore with the finger. This cure is still in vogue and is availed by several people.
