- The biggest fire there ever was around here was when Kells was burnt down in 1839 on the night of the Big Wind. The people sat up round the fires and the wind blew the doors open and caught the flames and blew them through the houses and Kells was burnt down.
There was a very bad fire on Druminskin bog in the year 1921, it was the driest summer ever came. It was started by a man cooking his dinner on the bog and he left the fire lit all night and no one could put it out. It began early in June and it kept burning till the end of December. It burnt down ten feet in the ground.
About the year 1900 a school-master was giving a picnic to the children. They went out on a boat on Lough Sheelin. There were nineteen children in the boat with the master and the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
