  1. A giant named Simon Mc Cann lived near Shercock. He was 7 ft 4 ins in height.
His father and mother were small.
He was a good scholar, and he joined the D. M. P. in Dublin. He had no trouble in passing his examination because he was very clever.
When he was one year in the police, he was dismissed for causing obsruction to the traffic, all the people would stand to look at him because he was so tall.
He came home and when he was one year at home he died.
He could carry 5 cwt on his back as easy as an ordinary man would carry 1 cwt.
There is a big stone about two ton weight on Mr John Mc Cabe's land, Mullagh, Co Cavan. It is said that a giant named Mickey Free took it in his two hands and lifted it across the road into Mc Cabe's field.
