- There was a battle fought in the Province of Munster long ago between Munster and Connacht. It was a big battle and it is said that it ended up near Kilshanny. It was said that the soldiers of Munster followed the king of Connacht to Kilshanny with stones and they killed him there about a mile down from the parish church.
They killed him there and all the soldiers threw the stones they had down on him and that is the why it is called the Carn Connacht. It is on P.J. O'Dwyer's land. They gathered all the stones that was(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
