    Conor demurred, but the master told him that he would have to go at all costs.
    Next morning - Sunday - Conor drove in the cows, milked them and drove them to the pasture again.
    He then got his hurley and went down to Butter Creek - a small creek near Fortfergus House where a boat was always at hand.
    Seizing his paddles it did not take him long to row across by the north side of Coney Island to the Rhinanna shore.
    Here the hurlers were assembled. The match was shared - as the people say and Conor was on one side.
    The ball was thrown up, and Conor was the first to strike it a puck which drove it yards away.
    He followed it and reaching it the first, gave it another in the direction of the boat. He continued in this way, no-body being able to overtake him till he reached the place where the boat was moored.
