  1. I seem to see in memory's eye,
    The church of Clondegad,
As once it stood in its old ground
When I was but a lad.
Its tower so square and slanting roof
    And ivy covered walls,
Bring up again my youth so fair
    And to my mind recalls.
    The Whtestones' home for centuries,
But now it's theirs no more,
The last sons of that ancient house,
    Have left dear Erin's shore.
I seem to see the water-fall,
    Fast by the ruined mill,
I seem to see the Fergus broad,
    From Knockalehid hill.
