The reason why this ribbon is hung out the old people used to say the "St. Brigid and some holy women go around that night and bless the ribbon. It is also said that this ribbon is a cure for a head-ache. Holly is put up in the house at Christmas. Palm is brought into the house on Palm Sunday.
