  1. When people were planting potatoes long ago they made ridges out of bawn fields. They put five sods in each ridge and each sod nine inches wide. When they had the ridges made they used get a mallet and malletthe nobs. Then an old woman would come along with a bane and a spade. A bane is a class of a bag or apron that the people had long ago. They used drive down a spade and get a potato and thow it down under the spade. The women stand in the middle of the ridge and plant three rows of potatoes.
