Ballylanders Father Barry was born at the hill of Knocklong in '46. His people were farmers.
An address was presented to him by the people of Ballylanders on his removal from the parish, after six years ministry to take up duty in the parish of Gortnahoe, Co. Tipperary. The address was signed on behalf of the parishioners by the following:

Nov. 20th, 1886Father Barry was appointed P.P. of Ballylanders in Sept. 1896 and ministered here until 1935 when he died. Owing to senile decay he did little or no duty for part of '34 + '35.
On the occasion of his 65th year as Priest the people of Ballylanders presented him with an address, and a gold chalice and beautiful cape.
He died at Ballycarron, Bansha on the 4th Nov. 1935 and was interred in the church grounds on the 6th Nov. 1935.
