  1. Weather Lore
When bad weather is approaching we see the distant hills looking near and black
the wild birds such as the curlew the plover and the seagull also the swallow fly very low. The crows pitch on the fields in flocks and the scald crow either pitches himself on the top of a tree or flies quickly and very low screaming all the time loudly.
When the sky shows signs of rain the cattle run to the nearest well sheltered fence and turn their back to the point from which they know the rain will come.
Before a thunder storm a dog cannot be kept out of a house, he runs for the darkest and quietest corner and stays there, he eats blades of grass at that time also.
When there is a reddening in the East before sunrise it is sure to rain.
When the soot falls down the chimney and the sings in the hearth these are sure signs of rain.
When a fog is seen rising out of a pond in the evening frost is sure to follow that night.
