- The most harmful weeds are switchgrass and doc-root. They are harmful because they impoverish the soil.
Herbs and plants are looked upon as growing only where the the land is good. Other herbs are only found where the land is poor. Switchgrass only grows on good land. Doc-roots only grow on good land also. A lot of seeds come on doc-roots every year. It spreads rapidly. If a person were pulling doc-roots he should pull the roots too. Because if he did not the roots would grow again and spread rapidly.
Long ago nettles were boiled and eaten because it was said that they would cure any disease in the month of May. The kind of matter like milk which is got from dandelions is used to cure worts. The stings of nettles are cured by rubbing doc-root to the blisters. Garlic was used for Asthma. Long ago people were cured very often by herbs and other weeds. The old people use them. Sufferers were cured and relieved by the herbs. There is no tradition connected with any herb or plant.- Bailitheoir
