- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)country. People had to go to the city in common carts, and bring as they could. A few hucksters shops were scattered around and from these the people got any small articles they required such as tobacco, matches, pounds of soap and squares of blue, a pound of sugar and an ounce of tea was the general order.
Sometimes eggs would be given in exchange for goods instead of money. Very few articles were given tick in those days and seldom one would get anything to booth.
Pedlars used to come in these days selling articles in exchange for potatoes, oats, turnips, mangolds or loads of hay.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
