- The most harmful weeds growing on my farm at home are dock-roots corncale and thistles. They are harmful because they spread and impoverish the soil. Thistles and dock-roots grow in good land and daisies in bad land. Yarrow was used to cure rheumatism. Dandelion is given to people suffering from indigeston. Tansy is used for poultry that have the pip. There is a tree called the yew and it is poisonous for animals. My grandmother told me that you should eat three meals of nettle in the month of May for the health. Daisies are used to cure sore eyes by boiling them and rubing the juice to the eyes.
