- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)good weather, but when it rises and glistens on the grass we are sure to have rain. A rainbow in the morning indicates rain, and a rainbow in the evening is a sign that the rain has passed away. A strong wind from the south indicates rain. When the donkey turns his back to a ditch it is a bad omen. If the cat or a dog tries to get up close to the fire we can expect rain. When the seagulls fly inland and when the swallows fly low we are sure to have rain. When the distant hills seem to be very near us we are sure to have rain. When the smoke ascends towards the heavens it is a sign of good weather, but when it blows about it is a bad sign.
