Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The best known farm animals in this district are, cows, horses, calves, fowls, donkeys, goats and others. The names of our cows are, Rose, The Grey Cow, The Five Year Old, Snowdrop, May, The Red Heffier, The Black cow, and Beauty. When turning the cows, we say "How, How", and act similarly with the calves.
    Our stall is a double one, with five stallings at each side. There are two straight poles standing, and they are connected with a hoop of iron. The cow is stalled between these two poles, and she can lie comfortably there.
    The horse's house is called the stable. Each horse has a stable to himself, and a manger in which he gets his food, hay and oats.
    The hen's house is called the fowl-house. This is usually a very cosy, well-kept little house. Comfortable nests are in every nook and corner in which the hens lay. A "cub" is in almost every fowl house, and this is kept perfectly clean. The hens sleep in this and lay their eggs in it during the day. It is made of tember with four doors sliding up and down. During the day these doors are raised up, but when all the hens have gone to bed in it at
