    A man named Patrick P. Shine lived in Taur Beag and he had a fine farm and many cows but he could not make hardly any butter and the neighbours around him told him to go to an old woman in Cahirbeárnach and consult her.

    "broke" and he could not pay a man to go so he sent one of his sons for her one day in a horse and cart. He had to travel all day and when he arrived he stayed the night and came home next day with the old woman. When she entered Shine's she had tea and sat by the fire and Mrs. Shine said " I am sorry but I forgot to send for some whisky and we have not a drop in the house". "Ah!" said the old woman "I know well you have a bottle of it upstairs so get it quickly or I won't tell you anything." So she was given a tumbler of whisky and she told them to go to a certain neighbour's house Mrs. Kanes and to go into the dairy taking with them the black coat behind Mrs. Kane's door.
    Then she told them to take up the flag under the creamtub and take the cow's afterbirths which were under it and burn the whole lot to ashes and to go disguised.
    So the four sons disguised themselves and went to Mrs. Kane's demanded the key of the dairy but they would not get it, so they broke in the door of the dairy, having taken the coat from behind the door, and when they lifted the flag under the creamtub they
