    slate. The most common surname in this townland is O'Sullivan. The persons over seventy are, Thade Hurley, Thade O Sullivan, Ellen Hurley, Mary O Hea, and Anne O Twohig all those being in Gahanive. They cannot tell stories in Irish. Very few people went to America from this townland when emigration was open.

  2. There is a Holy Well in this parish called Lady's Well. It is situated in Michael Finn's land in Dunowen. It is believed that the Blessed Virgin once appeared at this well and the print of her fingers are to be seen on a stone near it. On the fifteenth of August ever year people with any kinds of diseases go to this well and make certain rounds
