The following story is told of the days before tea came into general use.

The following story is told of the days before tea came into general use. A station was being held in a farmer's house and the good lady of the house purchased a pound of tea for Station Day. This she boiled in a pot and for breakfast she gave the priest a saucer of tea leaves covered over with sugar. The priest on sitting down to breakfast was amazed to find this dish set before him. He inquired of bean-an-tighe what she had done with the water in which she had boiled the leaves.
"Gan rath air, a athair" said she "do chaitheas an súghlach breán amach an doras."
