    There was a poor labourer and his wife was in labour.

    There was a poor labourer and his wife was in labour. He was terribly afraid and asked himself over and over again how they could manage to feed the extra mouth. In his grief he lay down beside a fort and puffed at his pipe to calm his fears and grief. In a short time he heard a great "rumpus" inside the fort and after a while the voice of one could be heard above all the others. "There is a fine "[patoaire?]" of child born over there and we must get him at once." You come along they said addressing another and take the place of the child." All was silent for a while and then they listener heard as it were a rush of wind but saw nothing. Later on he saw a woman enter the fort carrying a child in her arms
