The following are names of fields in my father's farm which is situated in DunBeacon, Durrus, Co Cork:-
The forge field, The long meadow, The daisy field, Damper's field, The gate field, The quarry field, Cotter's field, The Laka, The round field, The big field, The marsh, Parkeen.
The 'forge field' is called such because in former days a forge was built beside it. A man named Hayes owned it and when it went to ruins he built another about three miles distant.
The 'daisy field' got its name because numerous daisies grew in it.
The ruin of a house is situated within the boundaries of 'Cotter's field' and it is said that a man named Cotter owned it.
There is a quarry is the field that is called 'quarry field'.
The 'Laka' is a very rough field with furge bushes growing here and there in it.
The 'gate field' is called so because there is a gate to its entrance.
The field that is called the 'big field' is of a very large size, and it contains(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
