- Deshure Fort which stand on Deshure Hill is one of the best preserved in the country. It is surrounded by a very large high trench.
Some people of the neighbouring districts have explored the fort. They found that it contains several small underground rooms. One of those rooms has a large stone door which is all Ogham-written. This proves that the fort was built many centuries ago.
It is said that long ago the Whiteboys took refuge in this fort. Some "yoemen" who espied them from Rusnakille road fired a few shots at them and they immediately decamped. Some days later a "yoeman" captain was shot on the road which was beneath the Fort. The English Military were enraged and had tree innocent men hanged on the hill a short time after.- Bailitheoir
