  1. The following pishogues are prevalent in this district. They relate to eggs, meat, milk, butter, death, horse-shoe mag-pies, fire, beauty, and snails.
    Eggs
    If eggs are buried in another person's ploughed field it will take mis-luck or any sickness from yourself to another.
    Meat
    If fresh -meat is taken on a mare in foal, it will bring mis-fortune on the mare, or on the foal.
    Milk
    If milk is sold on May -day it will bring mis-luck on the house. But if salt is put in the empty can it will avert the mis-luck.
    Butter
    If a person entered a house whilst the owners were making butter, he should put his hand on the churn, otherwise they could not sell the butter.
    Death
    If a robin flew against the window it is a sign of death,
