- All over Ireland traces of holy wells are to be seen. In this country there are many of these holy wells. Not far from here is one. This is the legend told of it.
After Saint Brigid was driven out of Ballinderry she crossed eastwards towards the village of Hollywell. There she rested near a little well. Having drunk some of the water she blessed it and attached a cure to it for itch. For a few years it became famous and people came to pray beside it, and anyone that had a skin disease would(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
