  1. Many years ago when people believed that ghosts existed there happened in a place convenient to my dwelling a very amusing incident which I am about to relate.
    At the end of a lonely bye-road greatly sheltered by haw-thorn trees a strange figure frequented this haunt. In appearance he was in the upper portion like that of a cow with wild long horns, and with two cloven feet and about medium size.
    Every Saturday after twilight when the people from market were returning towards the haunted place
