The people around here had ideas of their own Long ago, for telling, when rain would be near. One very sure sign was to hear the noise of the far off train. Another, great sign was when it would be heard after bad weather that good weather was approaching.
Frog. Another great sign is to see the frog's colour black, surely rain is near.
Soot - Rain is also near, when the soot begins falling in big lumps, from the wide chimneys.
Cockroache's and worms are always creeping around the floors when rain is approaching.
Cats, are always sitting very near the fire, when rain is near at hand.
Swallows, flying low is a very sure sign of rain also
Sea Gulls, come to dry land when there is a sign of very showery weather, and an awful storm
Crows, The crows are always lined along the top of the walls, when there is a(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
