Ar an leathanach seo
- We sow from about half an acre to an acre of potatoes every year.The ground is first ploughed with a wheel-plough and then is cultivated and rolled and harrowed and then made into drills. Manure is then spread in the furrows. Then the seed is planted about six inches apart. The seed is made by cutting potatoes in halves or quarters according to their size. Some people let them sprout by putting them in boxes in the Winter. The potatoes are moulded and sprayed during the Summer.Some people dig them with a spade and others plough them out, but most people dig them with a potato digger. Then the potatoes are put in pits and afterwards sorted. They are picked into baskets and buckets.The best varieties are, Champions, Skerry Champions, Kerr's Pink, Epicure, Shamrocks, May Queen and British Queen.
