  1. Old Houses.
    So much fowl being kept by a rural population originated in the erection of what is familiarly known as the "half door". This helped to keep the hungry poultry coming in to annoy the housewife or "bean a' tighe" while engaged in her domestic duties.
    Strange Animals.
    This same informant remembers seeing an animal in Drumcaw Lough as big as a horse - ducking in the water early in the morning
