  1. There is onely one forge in this locality. It is situated in Castlemarket and owned by John Grady. It was formerly owned by his father John Grady. This forge is existing nearly a hundred years. There is good trade being carried on by its present occupier. There is one large sea-coal fire kept brning in it every day. The blacksmith is a very strong man and he is very popular in the district on account of his nice pleasing manner and his very useful occupation. He resides a short distance from the forge. There are different classes of work carried out in it such as horse shoeing, mending ploughs, harrows and many other implements for farm use. The blacksmith is kept busy working every and the farmers of the district are seen constantly coming and going to and from the forge getting work done in it. In this way the blacksmith is never lonely as people are always backwards and forwards in the forge each one bringing his own piece of work and his own news from the surrounding districts.
