- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)an animal is sold luck - money is given. This is called luck - penny. It is according to the generosity of the man that the luck - penny is given. When a bargain is made the people show their agreements by striking hands. The cattle are marked with keel. The horses are marked with scissors.
When an animal is sold the halter or rope is always given away. There is a special fair held in Ballybay for horses on the third Friday of each moth. There is a special market in Castleblayney on the second Wednesday for young pigs or as we call them "suckers".
When a bargain is made the man who makes it gets ten shillings or one pound for making it. He is called a "tangler" or "go - between".- Bailitheoir
