- Potatoes are sowen in our farm every year. We sow about one acre every year. The amount changes according to the field that is sowen in.
My father and brother gets ready the ground. The ground is manured before ploughed. The potatoes are sowen in drills, except corners in the field that has to be set. A plough is usually used except corners in the field that has to be set and you have to set them with a spade. Long ago wooden ploughs were used put none are used now.
The spades are not made locally they are bought in the shop.
Before you sow the potatoes you must cut them and put them in lime. The locally people help one another at the potatoes, one man comes at the setting, and helps the other.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
