  1. We have a dash churn at home. The sides of it are round and there are seven hoops on it. The age of it is about sixteen years. In summer butter is made twice a week and in winter once a week. Everyone in the house takes a brash till is done. The churning lasts for a half an hour. Strangers take a brash when they come in to show that they are not coming to take the butter away. When the people see the dash clean they know the butter is made. There is an ounce of salt put on every pound of butter. When the churning is done the beetle is put under the churn and it is stocked to get the butter together. In the summer cold water is used to quicken the churning and hot water in winter.
