where was his wide. The young girl answered and
said "I am here" He then understood that it
was the young girl who was the old man's wife

conversation. They [?] had killed the old
man and intended to leave it on the
lodgers. The man came in the barn came out
and cut a little piece out of the soldier's
coat and hid himself again. The soldiers
then charged him with having murdered
the old man, but he took out the little
bit of cloth and fitted it in to the
soldiers coat and showed it to the judje
and proved he was innocent of the crime
The soldiers were then charged with the
murder themselves and the man was set
free, and he continued to go home. When
he came to a stile he was putting his
foot on the steps when he thought of the
second advice and he went round the
road but the men who were with him
went the near way and they were robbed
but there companions was not for he (did)
