A shoemaker named Dolan lived also in my townland but machine made boots became popular and no one took his place when he died. My townland also contains an old churchyard. It is near Parkes castle on the shore of Lough Gill and during Parkes stay there three of his children died and were buried in the churchyard. My townland also had a fair held in it, but owing to a murder having been committed it was discontinues.
The house now owned by Mrs. Dolan in my townland was originally a public house where the murder was committed. On the side of the road near the Bourne grew a beautiful wood of larch and spruce timber, but the timber was sold after the great war and none was planted to take its place. My townland also has a beautiful glen called "The Alt" and it is visited by many strangers.
