  1. Long ago in this district it was the custom that people used to bring cattle and pigs to the markets which were at Blacklion, Enniskillen, and Manorhamilton. But this does not happen now, very much (n) since the border was made. They used to also churn and bring butter, but the people now bring the milk to the Creamery, and buy butter from the shops.
There were very few shops long ago. The only shops in this district were in Brockagh and Stranagress. The people also had to go to Manorhamilton and Blacklion to get flour and meal. Then there was a store made in a house owned by Thomas Clancy, but now owned by Francis McMorrow in Brockagh. The flour was got from Enniskillen and carted from the railway station. Then about forty years ago a new store was made beside the railway which is now in use.
The principal coins in use long ago, which are not in use now are the tenpenny, fivepenny, and fourpenny bits. It was a custom that a person used to be hired by a man for a certain length of time, and then he would get a cow or any other animal he wanted.
It was also another old custom that people used to grind corn for oat meal by themselves.
