    There is a small verse referring to picking pins:-

    And all the day you'll have good luck,
    See a pin, and pass [?] it by,
    You'll want a pine before you die,
    Thirteen is an unlucky number.
    A black frog is the sign of rain.
    If a picture falls off the wall of its own accord it is supposed to be the sign of death in the family.
