4th February 38There was a snow storm in the month of January in the year nineteen hundred and seventeen .It lasted for a month. It was ten or eleven foot deep. The roads were even with the ditches.
It was very hard on the farmers during the snow.They had to plod their way in the the snow with hay and straw to their stock that were out in the fields.
The people had no water for anything as the rivers , wells and lakes were covered with ice and snow. They had to gather and put it in pots and melt it for water.
The people were to be seen bringing meal and flour in stones or half stones on their as no horse or cart could go in the roads .There was no school as no children could asttend it on account of the snow.
A lot of men were employed cleaning the snow off the roads so that cars(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
