  1. There are a few forts in Cratloe, such as, one in Patrick O’Halloran’s farm in the townland of Portdrine, in pairc an teara There is another in Edmond Punche’s farm in the townland of Cratloe Keel, and the third in Patrick M’Namara farm in the townland of Ballymorris.
    The fort in Patrick O’Halloran’s is about ten feet high and about thirty feet interior.
    The fort in Patrick McNamaras is only about three feet high, because the cattle have it worn down from standing there. It is covered with white thorn bushes.
    These forts are so situated that if you stand on one you can see the other two. The reason that they were so situated is that if one fort was attacked the fairies in the other two forts would see them and come to their aid. It is said that
