  1. In ancient days Cratloe had many brave and famous men, Michael Moore was one of those, he lived in Ballintlea and was a herdsman for a man called Westropp in this portion of the parish.
    Michael had one cow and he wished to have her fed in Westropps farm.
    Westropp did not want this at all so he told Michael not to put the cow into the farm, at any rate she was always inside in one of the fields.
    One day
    Westropp went round the four walls of the field to find the place where the cow was breaking in but there was no gap in any of the walls.
    From that day onwards he watched Michael and one day he saw him taking the cow into the in his arms
