  1. The following cures were given to me by my mother-;
    For whooping cough-;
    If you meet a man on a grey horse say to him "o man with the grey horse tell me a cure for the whooping cough" What ever he says will cure the disease.
    For a sty in your eye-;
    Look through a marriage ring and bless yourself with it three times.
    For a toothache-;
    Put a piece of yarrow in your tooth and leave its juice flow into it.
    For the sting of a nettle-;
    Put a dock leaf on the sting.
    For a sore throat-;
    Honey.
    For a burn-;
    Lime water and sweet oil.
    For yellow jaundice-;
    Mrs. Studdart of Bunratty makes up a bottle from herbs but she has never given away the secret.
