  1. There is an island near Bunratty on the river Shannon. It is called Saint's Island. Long ago people named Mc Inerney's lived in the island. One day as Mr. Mc Inerney was out fishing a boat came up the river. There was a robber in it. He stopped at the island and went in to rob the house. He tried the whole house but he could not get any money, and nothing else was not any use to him.
Mrs. Mc Inerney was in the house and she was terrified. She had a young baby in her arms. Then he demanded the child when he did not get the money, The woman would not give it. He tried to take it from her arms, and she ram into the room crying for mercy. She called upon some saint to save the child, and she was inspired to hit the robber with the churn staff. She hit him on the head and he fell down dead. Ever since this island is called Saint's Island.
