- There was a man who used to stay out late at night, and was in the habit of making short cuts home. He had to go over a stile. Every night when he would come to the stile there used to be a white woman sitting on it. This night he told his brother. The next night the brother wrapped a white sheet around him and sat on the same stile thinking to give a bigger fright to his brother. When he came to the stile "Good night, two here to-night,". The brother with the sheet got the biggest fright, when he heard the brother say "two here to-night".
