People used to come on May Day to milk cows so that they would take the luck of the milk and butter from their neighbour .If a man came into the house whilst butter was being made and if he kindled his pipe with a coal and went out without giving a hand with the making of the butter it is said that there would be no luck with the butter for that year.If a(continues on next page)
