    up the drills. Then when the potatoes are bigger, they are sprayed so that the blight disease will take no effect.
    In the Autumn he digs his potatoes with a spade; or takes them out with. Others use a digger in doing so which is the best method of all. My father uses a plough, and the neighbours come and gather the potatoes for him. He then stores them in pits which preserves them during the winter.
    There are various names given to the potatoes. Champions, Kerr's Pinks, Arran banners and Epicures grow best in this district, the latter being an early crop.
